We caught up with Chris Clarke-Williams. Chris is our bank Support Worker at Camrose.
Hello Chris!
How did you first find out about the Camrose Centre?
I first heard about Camrose through general chatter on Facebook from friends like Liz Jackson and Linda Richardson who have supported Camrose in various ways. I then started to visit on a Tuesday after my shift as a Night Shelter venue coordinator on Monday nights in 2019/20.
What do you do in your spare time?
I like to garden, walk when I can and go canoeing. I have been a BCU coach for many years now mainly introducing new people to paddling as a pastime rather than competitive sport. I also like to read, cycle and knit and occasionally do medieval archery.
What do you enjoy most about working at Camrose?
That’s easy its the people – both our guests who are all great although some can be a challenge and of course the volunteers and my fellow staff.
Are there challenges?
So far a lot of my work has been on Sundays so a challenge is making sure that client’s needs get passed on for action when the agencies we work with are open. I am looking forward to being able to do more support when I am working or volunteering during the week.
What has been your biggest learning so far?
Making sure that the rules which are there to keep everyone safe are properly followed.
How would you describe Camrose in 3 words?
A welcoming home
